Calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how.” Mark 8:34 (The Message)

How many times have you tried to figure things out on your own? How many times have you attempted to navigate your way through difficulties and challenges only to come up short? How many times have you said you trusted God only to take the lead in situations and circumstances? Too many of the followers of Christ have attempted to lead without Christ in the center of it all. Marriages, careers, relationships, and financial matters have all fallen to our personal choices and decisions without Christ at the center of it all. Even in the midst of our sufferings we seek others and their advice and fail to rely on our source and author of our lives.

When we realize that God is in the drivers seat and He is ultimately in control we can take yet another step in the maturation of our spiritual lives. When we let go and let God lead we will learn His plans and lessons for our lives sooner than later. Allowing God to take the lead requires discipline and blind obedience. Following Christ truly means picking up ones cross and putting self aside. Of course making the type of commitment and sacrifice will not and is not easy. However, for those who choose to do so the reward far outweighs the sacrifice and the suffering. Life will throw everything it has at you. The devil will certainly intensify his attack. That person who temps you will surface. The temptation to do wrong will be presented with opportunities. As Paul wrote every time you seek to do good evil is right there ever present. The question is what will you choose to do?

When we go through stay the course and trust in the process. When we suffer from the daily stings of life intensify your prayer life and seek God more. When temptation rears it’s ugly head and it will trust that God is the supplier of all of your needs and His reward is much greater than any instant gratification. Let go and let God take control. Give God total control of your life and situation and watch Him work. If you are looking for peace, comfort or whatever you may be lacking, turn it over to God and let Him lead you to that place where it all comes together.
