“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Are you living a mediocre life? Are you allowing the everyday grind to weigh you down? Do you find yourself frustrated and tired of the same old same? Well if this is you which I believe describes a lot of the followers of Christ you have failed to understand walking in the power of Christ. This pretty much described me at one time and I truly believe that this describes many of the followers of Christ. You go to church every Sunday. You sit under a rich word every Sunday? You read your bible and you live a Christian lifestyle. Yet the everyday burdens of life are or have begun to wear you down. Well if we look at 2 Timothy 1:7 we read that God has not given you a spirit of fear but He has given you a spirit of power, love and a sound mind. If we can just focus on the power portion of this verse we could move beyond our personal barriers which short circuit the very power we have in Christ. You see God has not designed His children to live in fear or to live a mediocre life. God did not take time to design you so you could live below the very standard He has established for His children. Far too many of us live in fear and it cripples and short circuits our God given power to over come and to be more than conquers.

How do we walk in the power of Christ? The first thing we need to do is change our focus from a worldly perspective to a Kingdom mindset. When we focus on our problems or compare ourselves to others we have a worldly perspective because we are trying to live by worldly standards. When we live by a Kingdom mindset we focus on Christ and we put our faith 100% in Him who sits on the throne. For most we allow our emotions to lead us when we should be seeking leadership from the Holy Spirit. That power God has given us can be gained through developing five areas of our lives which I believe will assist us in keeping a Kingdom perspective regardless of our circumstances.

We need to focus on our Spiritual life, our physical being, our emotional being, our financial situations, and our intellect. These five areas are the keys that drive us through our journey with Christ. Each area has an important role in outrtotal being and in our success during our time here on earth. If one of these areas are out of sync than in most cases we are out of sync. If my spiritual life is not in order than there is no way I can draw on the Christ that is within me. If I am physically unfit than I cannot possibly enjoy the life that Christ has designed me for. If I cannot control my emotions than whoever controls my emotions controls me. If I am always broke and frustrated over my finances than I will be distracted and struggling as I attempt to serve and work for Christ. As my dad use to tell me we all have two bad habits, eating and living indoors. If we don’t feed our intellect we will grow stagnant and cease to grow thus we will be of no use to the Kingdom. Where are you in these five areas of your life? If you are not walking in the power of Christ check these areas.
