“So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body or away from it.” 2 Corinthians 5:9

Are you living a life pleasing to God? Most of the followers of Christ would answer yes without thinking this question all the way through. Yes, we may be without constant sin. Yes we may have an angle on our anger. However, if fear is active in your life or you gossip and share things
about others that are negative and derogatory you are not living a life pleasing to Go.? Do you harbor ill feelings towards another? Are you putting in to practice that rich word you receive on Sunday? These are all things that we as followers of Christ should be working on. You see if any
of these things and some others are left unchecked we are not pleasing God.

Pleasing God is a full time commitment and will stretch you beyond what you think you are capable of and becoming. You see pleasing God is much more than words and actions. Pleasing God is a state of mind that needs to constantly be watered with the word of God. Turing back will always seem like an option when things get tough. We will tell ourselves that Grace and Mercy will cover our stumbles and short falls so we let go and take time off from pleasing God. Yes Grace and Mercy is ours as members of the family of Christ but we are still called to stay the course and not to freely give in or give up. Folk will always present you with an opportunity to do wrong, give up or give in to reacting or acting in ways not pleasing to God. However, God does not want His children whom He called by His name to surrender to the temptations of life which may cause you to take time off from pleasing God. Yes it is tough and challenging. Yes there will be good days and worse days. Yes sometimes those close to you will push every button and flip every switch within you to draw you off course. However the God we serve is a good God who is always on time. “There hath no temptation taken hold of you but such as is common to man. But God is faithful; He will not suffer you to be tempted beyond that which ye are able to bear, but with the temptation will also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1 Corinthians 10:13. There is nothing you and I can go through that God has not already prepared a way out. The God we serve will never leave nor forsake us thus we never have to go it alone.

For me I have learned to pray for the folk who try to draw me off course. I pray for those who seem to work hard at causing chaos and confusion in my life. I actually spend time asking God to show me how to deal with those who frustrate me and challenge me at the core of what I believe. I understand that pleasing God means loving thy neighbor even when they make it hard to do so. That’s pleasing to God.
